Cell Phone Carrier Coverage Maps. Carrier coverage quality is at least as important as choosing the right rate plan or cell phone, and probably more so. You might have the latest and greatest smartphone, but it is little more than a paperweight if it drops calls, or can't access the Internet when you want. However, coverage area is also the hardest element to assess ahead of time, as needs differ for each person. Fortunately, each of the major carriers now offers an interactive map to help you better understand their coverage in your area. If you are just interested in one carrier's coverage maps, click the appropriate logo below. Wireless Phone Service - Find the Cell Phone and Calling Plan for Your Needs. What You Want. These factors might be price, early termination fees, phone selection available within a network, or other factors. Once you know which factor is most important, you can target a carrier or phone that is designed to be best in a particular way. In the highly competitive cell phone industry, carriers and phone manufacturers attempt to differentiate themselves by targeting specific needs. This means that cell phones often offer something unique like a nationwide plan, international calling, or group plan. For this reason, you should aim to work with a carrier that aims to be best in a particular field. By doing this, you’ll be able to save on what you want most. Phones and plans range from low cost to very expensive, and you definitely want to find a phone and plan that fits within your price range. Determine your price point, and you’ll be able to do your research from there. Access Wireless is a government-supported program that ensures anyone can get a mobile phone and free or affordable cell phone service. See if you qualify & apply today! Some phones are only carried through a certain carrier, so it's important to make sure the carrier you choose has the phone you want. Each also has certain advantages. For example, Verizon has a coverage network that blankets more than 9. United States. In contrast, companies like Boost Mobile will assess additional roaming charges when outside of major cities. Those who travel often or live in multiple places should consider getting their phone plan from a carrier that offers exceptional nationwide coverage. Individuals who spend most of their time at home or in the office should make sure that their phone carrier has good coverage where they plan to use the device. These range from keyboard and interface, camera and video capabilities, memory, accessibility, operating systems, and more. For example, some phones are designed to have exceptional storage capabilities for users who plan to store a great amount of data on their device. Other phones are designed to be more like a personal computer, with cellular capabilities being mostly secondary. For corporate use, it may be important that a cell phone's communication is encrypted or that it supports unique applications.
If you plan to use one of these unique applications, it will be important to use a phone with a compatible operating system. For all of these purposes, there are specific phone plans designed to meet those needs. In an attempt to be different from the rest of the competition, most phones offer a unique feature that might be right for specialized applications. For example, contractors might benefit from a cell phone that has a rugged design that will be protected from falls. These rugged phones can also be appropriate for those who engage in competitive sports and outdoor activities. Another type of phone, called a push- to- talk phone, gives users the optional capability of utilizing their phone as a walkie- talkie. Since cell phones are capable of picking up a signal in any city, these can be much more useful than regular radio- based push- to- talk communication devices. Finally, some cell phone carriers have cameras with exceptional resolutions that are designed for photographers or those who like to post images on social media. This is a valid way of differentiating smartphones since they will often be used visually when browsing the Internet. Many phone buyers today like phones with an . Tired of typing "cable internet in my area" or "cable in my zip code" into Google search only to end up more confused about what cable internet providers are in your. Curious about how different prepaid carriers coverage compares? Here are the official coverage maps for all the nationwide prepaid mobile operators in the US. Carrier coverage quality is at least as important as choosing the right rate plan or cell phone, and probably more so. You might have the latest and greatest. But before we look at the plans lets check out the. Improved Coverage. According to Consumer Reports, Verizon has the best coverage overall nationwide. These are similar to tablets, as they have touchscreen displays and usually have advanced functionality. Another type of phone to consider is a flip phone, which mostly takes input from either a number pad or a touchscreen. Finally, there are slider phones which offer a full keyboard instead of a number pad. These can be convenient for texting or browsing the Internet, especially for phones that don't have a touchscreen display. Further, some phones allow users to access multiple networks depending on available signals in a given location. Most cell phone carriers today offer at least 3. G coverage, which provides high- speed Internet access while traveling in most places. Many large cities today have 4. G coverage, which offers speeds up to 5 megabits per second. If you plan to use streaming video or spend most of their time browsing the Internet should look for a phone that has 4. G coverage. Wi. Fi is another nice feature to have, even for those with access to advanced Internet connections. Since most Wi. Fi connections offer unlimited bandwidth, they can be used as an alternative to more expensive 3. G and 4. G Internet. Those who plan to use a cell phone at home or in the office should make sure that it provides full support for Wi. Fi. Many carriers require at least a two- year contract. As part of agreeing to these terms, most carriers will offer advanced smartphones either free- of- charge or at reduced rates. This can make a device such as an i. Phone or Android much more affordable. However, it also obligates you to agree to a contract that might exceed the term of their current employment. As a result, you should carefully evaluate the costs associated with early contract termination. Most carriers charge a fixed fee plus an additional amount for each month still remaining in the contract at termination. Carriers that have excessive charges for early termination should be avoided. Also, contracts can change based on how many users will be on the plan and how many minutes you have on your plan. You’ll want to consider data plan costs, text messaging costs, and more when considering the contract.

How to Install Windows 7 From USB (Flash Drive, Ext HD)Chances are you'll need to install Windows 7 from a USB device if you have a tablet, or small laptop or netbook device, few of which include optical drives as standard hardware. This means that you must get the Windows 7 setup files onto a flash drive (or any USB based storage) and then boot from that flash drive to get the Windows 7 installation process started. However, simply copying the files from your Windows 7 DVD to a flash drive won't work. You have to specially prepare the USB device and then properly copy the Windows 7 install files to it before it'll work as you expect. You're in a similar, but slightly easier to solve, situation if you've purchased a Windows 7 ISO file directly from Microsoft and need that on a flash drive. No matter what situation you're in, just follow the instructions below to install Windows 7 from a USB device. Note: The following tutorial applies equally to whatever edition of Windows 7 you have a disc or ISO image of: Windows 7 Ultimate, Professional, Home Premium, etc. How to Install Knoppix to a USB Flash Drive using Windows and our third party Universal USB Installer. If you already know how to create ISO images, fantastic: do it, and then come back here for further instructions on what to do with it. If you've never created an ISO file from a disc before, check out the tutorial linked above. It'll walk you through installing some free software and then using it to create the ISO. An ISO image is a single file that perfectly represents a disc.. Once downloaded, execute the file and follow the installation wizard. This free program from Microsoft, which works in Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP, will correctly format the USB drive and then copy the contents of your Windows 7 ISO file to the drive. Start the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool program, which is probably located in your Start menu or on your Start screen, as well as on your Desktop. On the Step 1 of 4: Choose ISO file screen, click Browse. Locate, and then select, your Windows 7 ISO file. Then click Open. Note: If you downloaded Windows 7 directly from Microsoft, check for the ISO image wherever you tend to store downloaded files. If you manually created an ISO file from your Windows 7 DVD in Step 1 above then it will be wherever you saved it to. Click Open. Click Next once you're back on the Step 1 of 4 screen. Click USB device on the Step 2 of 4: Choose media type screen. On the Step 3 of 4: Insert USB device screen, choose the flash drive or external hard drive you want to put the Windows 7 installation files on. Tip: If you haven't yet plugged in the flash drive or other device you're using then you can do that now. Just click the blue refresh button to make it show up in the list. Click the Begin copying button. Click Erase USB Device if you're prompted to do so on a Not Enough Free Space window. Then click Yes to the confirmation in the next window. Note: If you don't see this it just means that the flash drive or external hard disk you've selected is already empty. Important: Any data you have on this USB drive will be erased as part of this process. On Step 4 of 4: Creating bootable USB device, wait for the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool to format the USB drive and then copy the Windows 7 installation files to it from the ISO image you provided. You'll see a Status of Formatting for several seconds, followed by Copying files. This part might take as long as 3. Windows 7 the ISO file you have is from, as well as on how fast your computer, USB drive, and USB connection is. Tip: The percentage complete indicator may sit on one or more percentages for a long time. This does not mean anything is wrong. The next screen you see should say Bootable USB device created successfully. You can now close the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool program. The USB drive can now be used to install Windows 7. Boot from the USB device to start the Windows 7 setup process. Tip: You may need to make changes to the boot order in BIOS if the Windows 7 setup process doesn't start when you try to boot from the USB drive. See How to Change the Boot Order in BIOS if you've never done that. Tip: If you still can't get the flash drive to boot, and you also have a UEFI based computer, see Tip #1 below for help. Note: If you arrived here from How to Clean Install Windows 7, you can now return to that tutorial and continue installing Windows 7. See How to Install Windows 7 if you weren't doing a clean install or you're not sure what kind of installation to do. Tips & More Information. When the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool formats the flash drive during the process above, it does so using NTFS, a file system that some UEFI systems won't boot from if on a USB stick. To get the USB drive to boot on these computers, you should copy the data from the flash drive onto a folder on your computer, then reformat the flash drive using the older FAT3. See my How to Burn an ISO File to USB tutorial for an alternative method for getting a Windows 7 ISO image onto a USB drive. I much prefer the instructions I've outlined above, but if you have trouble getting it to work, the general ISO- to- USB walkthrough should do the trick. Applies to: Intune in the classic console. Looking for documentation about Intune on Azure? Go here. Microsoft Intune can help you to secure Windows PCs that you manage with the Intune client in a number of ways. One way in which it does this is to provide policies that enable you to configure Windows Firewall settings on PCs. If you have not yet installed the Intune Windows PC client on your computers, see Install the Windows PC client with Microsoft Intune. Windows Vista, a major release of the Microsoft Windows operating system, was available in six different product editions: Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Business. Check out my Windows Vista Activity Center for a cool front-end to all of the Windows Vista/Longhorn-related content I've created! Use the information in the following sections to help you configure, deploy, and monitor Windows Firewall policies on Windows PCs. Use Intune policies to manage Windows Firewall. The Windows Firewall policy lets you create and deploy settings that control Windows Firewall on managed PCs. You cannot manage custom exceptions for Windows Firewall, and these settings do not affect third- party firewalls. Note. If Microsoft Intune policy and Group Policy are configured to manage the same setting on the PC, the Group Policy setting overrides the Microsoft Intune policy. For information about how to avoid conflicts between Intune policy and Group Policy, see Resolve GPO and Microsoft Intune policy conflicts. If you want to deploy Windows Firewall settings to computers that run Windows Vista, you must first install Hotfix KB9. Important. To manage Windows Firewall by using Intune, ensure that the following two services are enabled on the computers that you manage: Windows Firewall. IPsec Policy Agent. Configure a Windows Firewall policy. In the Microsoft Intune administration console, choose Policy > Add Policy. Configure and deploy a Windows Firewall Settings policy. You can use the recommended settings or customize the settings. If you need more information about how to create and deploy policies, see Common Windows PC management tasks with the Microsoft Intune computer client. The following section lists the values that you can configure in the policy and also the default values that will be used if you don’t customize the policy. After you deploy a Windows Firewall policy, you can view its status on the All Policies page of the Policy workspace. Specify policy settings for Windows Firewall. Turn on Windows Firewall. These policy settings enable Windows Firewall on managed computers that are: Connected to a domain (for example, at the workplace)Connected to a private (trusted) network (such as a home network)Connected to an untrusted public network (such as a coffee shop)The default value for each of these settings is Yes, which is the most secure value. Block all incoming connections, including those in the list of allowed programs. These policy settings configure Windows Firewall to block incoming network traffic on managed computers that are: Connected to a domain (for example, at the workplace)Connected to a private (trusted) network (such as a home network)Connected to an untrusted public network (such as a coffee shop)The default value for each of these settings is Yes, which is the most secure value. Important. If your environment includes managed computers that are running Windows Vista with no service packs installed, you must either install the update that's associated with article 9. Microsoft Knowledge Base or disable the Block all incoming connections policy settings in policies that are deployed to those computers. Notify the user when Windows Firewall blocks a new program. These policy settings determine whether Windows Firewall notifies a PC user when it blocks incoming network traffic when the managed computer is: Connected to a domain (for example, at the workplace)Connected to a private (trusted) network (such as a home network)Connected to an untrusted public network (such as a coffee shop)The default value for each of these settings is Yes. Configure predefined exceptions. You can configure exceptions that allow specific types of network traffic through the firewall regardless of the values that you configured earlier. You should see something like this: This command string. Navigate to paper space, make your company standard viewport layer active and create a viewport. I’ve used a layer called . You could apply these techniques in the CUI instead and build your custom commands into a tool bar or ribbon tab. Click on the viewport you created earlier and drag and drop it onto the tool palette.
